St. John's outfielder Josh Leemhuis and Cadets pitcher Jimmy Reed signed their National Letters of Intent to play at a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference schools Wednesday. Leemhuis will play at North Carolina while Reed will head to Maryland.
Last year, Leemhuis batted .355 with 20 RBI, 16 stolen bases, four doubles and four triples. He also batted .341 with 19 RBI in 2007. He is the second student-athlete in as many years to sign a National Letter of Intent with North Carolina. The Tar Heels were ranked third in the final
Baseball America poll at the end of last season.
Reed, a senior left-handed pitcher, was 2-2 last season with a 2.36 earned run average. For his efforts, he earned All-WCAC Second Team honors. At Maryland, Reed will join former Cadets Mike Sufczyinski and Mike Rozak.
The pair of signings to St. John's already impressive streak of sending baseball
