Bishop Ireton travelled to the Norcross Invitational in Roanoke, Virginia to square off with some of the top volleyball teams in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association. After an opening round win, the Cardinals were bounced in the semifinals and moved to the consolation round where they met WCAC rival PVI in the third place contest. The Panthers took the opening game of the match, a best of three format for the weekend event, then outlasted Ireton in a grueling 29-27 win.
The Cardinals will have a quick opportunity for a rematch with the Fairfax school as Ireton travels to PVI on Wednesday for a varsity/junior varsity WCAC matchup. JV opens at 4:30 and varsity begins approximately 6pm.
