Long Reach boys' basketball squad is happy again after winning Friday evening against Reservoir. The Lightning is one-game behind Howard and Marriotts Ridge in the league standings.

After its long home-winning streak came to a halt, Long Reach High boys' basketball team started a new one, defeating Reservoir, 70-51, in a Howard County contest Friday evening in Columbia.

Senior guard Steven Bell scored 16 points for the Lightning (11-2 overall, 9-2 league), who was routed by Atholton Wednesday ending a 30-game home court streak, and senior forward Allante Crenshaw added 13.

Junior forward Julius Fambro and senior guard/forward Obi Ukwuoma each had 10 points for Long Reach, which led 32-21 at halftime. Senior center Bill Reybold led Reservoir (3-12, 3-8) with 13 points, and Danny Summers contributed 10. Long Reach will host Oakland Mills Wednesday in league play, and Reservoir hosts Hammond in Fulton.

Reservoir: Reybold 13, Summers 10, Brooks 7, Matthews 7, Hayes 4, Polk 3, Witmer 3, Engelkemier 2, Johnson 2. Totals 17 13-23 51.

Marriotts Ridge, Hammond 45

A week after being taken to overtime, Marriotts Ridge rolled past Hammond. Senior guard Kevin Seker had a game-high 25 points for the Mustangs (12-2, 10-1) who remained in a first-place tie with Howard, which defeated Oakland Mills Friday evening.

Chris Baker, who had 36 points in last week's loss, finished with 13 for Hammond (3-9, 3-9). The Lions will travel to Reservoir Wednesday afternoon while Marriotts Ridge is at Mount Hebron.

Glenelg 39, Wilde Lake 31

Bruce Richardson had a game-high 18 points, leading Glenelg past Wilde Lake. Steve Visnic added 10 for the Gladiators, who next plays at league co-leader Howard Wednesday.

Howard 79, Oakland Mills 56

Senior guard Kameron Crump scored 11 points, and Reed Scott and Justin Hawkins had 10 as Howard maintained its share of first with a victory over Oakland Mills (4-8, 4-7). Howard hosts Glenelg Wednesday while Oakland Mills travels to Long Reach.
