Former Wilde Lake High assistant football coach Bruce Strunk has been hired as the head coach at Howard High, Strunk informed DigitalSports this week.

Strunk has spent past seasons as an assistant to Roger Wrenn at Patterson High, as well as as an assistant to the late Augie Waibel at Poly.

Strunk also held positions as head coach at Northern of Baltimore City and Baltimore County schools Randallstown and Eastern Tech, all of which enjoyed winning seasons under Strunk.

Strunk, who served as the defensive coordinator for Wilde Lake coach Doug DuVall, takes over a Howard High program that reached the playoffs this past season for the first time in more than a decade, and which split games with Wilde Lake.

The Lions of Howard High also return plenty of talent from a squad formerly coached by Al Feldblum, who was named the DigitalSports Co-Coach of the Year this past fall.
