Urbana crowned Adam Krop (112), Billy Hering (125) and Steven Edmands (160), with Peter Tatanish (130), Spencer Strube (135) and Tucker Lowery (145) finishing second on the way to earning 225.5 points and winning the Grapple at The Brook Tournament at Springbrook in Montgomery County.

Krop overcame Sherwood's tough Alex Hakspiel, 5-4, in a match that he trailed early, 2-0, only to rebound after a series of dazzling scrambles by the wrestlers in perhaps the best title match of the night.

Runner-up Atholton (179 points) got titles from Howard County and Class 2A-1A South Region champion Brian Nance (285) and county and regional runners-up Malcolm Stennett (189) and Mike Massarelli (215), as well as Kevin Beck (103).

Beck won by major decision, 8-0, over a girl, Monica Hovermale, who had pinned her previous rivals in 1:25, and, 3:22, respectively, to reach the title bout.

Springbrook's champions were Carlo Galeano (145) and Nadjitade Badje (171), with Joseph Galeano (125) and Paul Milano (215) being runners-up.

Remaining unbeaten was Sherwood's two-time state runner-up, Steven Gamble (152), who scored a 4-2 decision over Reservoir's Zach Coe.
 
For Northwest, Michael Henning (119) edged Reservoir's Mark Colabucci, 1-0, and state runner-up Sean McCarty (130) major decisioned Tatanish, earning the tournament's title for the fourth straight year as well as Outstanding Wrestler honors.

Others winning titles were Wheaton's Randell Hernandez (140) and Smithsburg's James Reilly 135), with the latter edging Clarksburg's state runner-up, Tanner Wrublik, 8-7, in the semifinals and Strube, 8-5, for the crown.
