10/18/08. Fishers, IN.

In the end Noblesville was too strong of a team for the Zionsville Lady Eagles as they fell 2-0 in tonight's sectional championship game. Noblesville came into the game undefeated, un-scored on and with the state's #1 ranking, they left with what they have been looking for the last 5 years, a sectional championship. In a game that was dominated by the Lady Millers, Zionsville could only watch as their season came to an end.

The game itself was a battle since the start, Noblesville came out on fire and ready to play as they put the Lady Eagles on a lot of pressure with their strong mid-field play. The score remained tied for most of the half, however Noblesville found the back of the net with about 6 minutes left in the half. A ball was crossed from the right side into the box, the ball bounced over a Eagles defender's head and Charlie Maxwell was able to strike a shot in the low left corner to open up the score. Noblesville had other several chances in the first half but could not capitalize.

In the second half the Lady Miller were looking to put the game out of reach and they were able to find the second goal of the night again by Charlie Maxwell. A long throw in landed in Zionsville's box as the Eagles defenders seem to lose their marks and Maxwell found herself in front of the keeper as her close range shot went off the keepers hands and into the back of the net.

The rest of the half saw Noblesville control the majority of the play as Zionsville was struggling to find offensive rhythm. In the end the score remained the same as Noblesville captured their first sectional title in the last five years.

"My hat goes off to Noblesville, they are indeed an amazing team and they were the better team tonight", mentioned Zionsville's Head Coach Ramon Aguillon. "They dominated the majority of the play and deserved to win tonight, our girls played their hearts out but in the end it was not enough". "I am very proud of our season, it is a bittersweet ending but I could not be happier with our players, they gave it their absolute best and as a coach that is all you can ask for".

Zionsville's season ends with a 14-1-5 record as Noblesville moves on to the Regional Championship against New Palestine.
