South Riding (Feb. 22, 2009) - St. Christopher's, the seven-time defending Virginia Indepedent Schools Wrestling Association state champion, captured the First Annual Freedom Duals over the weekend, defeating Richmond rivals Hanover and Cosby to take the title. Potomac Falls and host Freedom finished 4-5 in the tough 12-team event.

The tournament started out with the schools being split into four pools of three teams and the three teams wrestled round robin and the winners of each pool went into a championship quad and the second place team went into a second quad to wrestle for 5th - 8th, and the third place teams went to wrestle for 9 - 12th.

1st Place: St Chris (Defeated Potomac Falls 48-19, Hanover 45-24, and Cosby 36-27, to finish 5-0 on the day)
2nd Place: Cosby (Defeated Potomac Falls 32-26, Hanover 41-27, and lost to St. Chris 36-27, to finish 4-1 on the day)
3rd Place: Hanover (Defeated Potomac Falls 45-30, and Lost to Cosby 41-27 and St. Chris 45-24 to finish 3-2 on the day)
4th Place: Potomac Falls (Lost to St. Chris 48-19, Hanover 45-30, and Cosby 32-26, to finish 2-3 on the day)
5th Place: Freedom (Defeated Cape Henry 44-35, Liberty 47-30, and Herndon 54-21, to finish 4-1 on the day)
6th Place: Cape Henry (Defeated Liberty 51-21, Herndon 51-21, and lost to Freedom 44-35, to finish 3-2 on the day)
7th Place: Liberty (Defeated Herndon 48-24, and lost to Freedom 47-30, and Cape Henry 51-21, to finish 2-3 on the day)
8th Place: Herndon (Lost to Liberty 48-24, Freedom 54-21, and Cape Henry 51-21, to finish 1-4 on the day)
9th Place: Hylton (Defeated King George 48-28 and Monticello 44-35, and lost to Park View 42-29, to finish 2-3 on the day)
10th Place: King George (Defeated Park View 42-37 and Monticello 43-30, and lost to Hylton 48-28, to finish 2-3 on the day)
11th Place: Monticello (Defeated Park View 48-33, and lost to Hylton 44-35 and King George 43-30, to finish 1-4 on the day)
12th Place: Park View (Defeated Hylton 42-29, and lost to King George 42-37 and Monticello 48-33, to finish 1-4 on the day)

For Loudoun teams:

Freedom
Joseph Sheptock (145) went 5-0 and improved to 30-4 on the season, Marshall Haas (189) went 5-0 and improved to 21-10 on the season and has won 9 straight matches since losing by decision to Loudoun County's Remington Lakose on Tuesday night.

Potomac Falls
Michael Oswald (135) went 5-0

Park View
Stephen Penna (112) went 5-0 and Tyler Roberts (171) went 5-0
