Today’s match-up that was scheduled for 4:15 between the Wilde Lake Wilde Cats and the Atholton Raiders has been cancelled due to poor weather conditions. It will instead be played this Wednesday, May 6th.
Atholton has seen great individual performances down the stretch. Second baseman Jared Hand had a slow start to the season, posting a .200 batting average, but has upped it to .349 after going 11 of his last 23.
First baseman Chris Acker also has been hot with the bat, going 7 of his last 14, while catcher Paul Beers has gotten 7 hits in his last 13 at bats.
Following the game against Wilde Lake, Atholton will begin their quest for a 3A State Crown in the playoffs, and will need to see similar production if they wish to go the distance. The Raiders last won states in 2002, with Lafayette baseball standouts and alumni Matt Revelle and James Conrad serving as the key players that season.
