***2009/2010 Interest meetings -Tuesday, May 5th 2:30 PM & Tuesday, May 19th 6 PM – Cafeteria:  
Parents and students are encouraged to attend. Details on tryouts, August practice schedule, school year practice and game schedule, competition and expenses will be covered at this meeting.  The May 5th meeting is for all current high school students and the May 19th meeting is for rising 9thgraders. 


***Important information for those that missed the meetings.  A detailed information packet was passed out at both of these meetings with forms such as teacher recommendations and very specific information in regards to tryouts, schedules and more.  If you were unable to attend one of these meetings please stop by the front office of Myers Park High School for a copy of the packet or you may contact Coach Tarlton directly and the packet can be emailed to you.  Some of the information requested in the packet requires time to gather, so be sure to get a copy of this packet as soon as possible! Unfortunately the file is too large to attach to this website. 

***Clinic - Monday, June 22 - 9-11:30 AM – Gym Lobby:  Format will be similar to tryouts.  $10 a cheerleader.  Please RSVP to Coach Tarlton by Friday, June 19th.

***Open Practices  – 

Wednesday 5/13 & 5/27 3-4:30 PM – Gym Lobby:  May open practices are only open to current MP students only

Wednesday 6/17, 7/1, 7/15, 7/29 - 4:30–6 PM – Gym Lobby:  June & July open practices are open to any student that will be attending Myers Park during the 2009/2010 school year. 

Each open practice will focus on a different area of cheerleading. Come prepared to workout! 

***Varsity Football Squad & Fall Competition Squad Tryouts will be: 

8/3, 8/4, 8/5 & 8/6 4-7 PM – Cafeteria

***JV Football Squad Tryouts will be:   

8/26, 8/27 & 8/28 3-5:30 PM - Cafeteria

*** Selection of the squads will be based on the following criteria: spirit/enthusiasm, voice, motions, jumps, dance, tumbling, stunting, positive attitude, teamwork, ability to learn new material and teacher recommendations.

***You must bring a completed Athletic Participation Form (found on MP website) in order to participate in the clinic, open practices and tryouts.  No exceptions here!

***Cheerleaders cheer for all home & away football and basketball games. There will be two JV squads, two  Varsity squads and one Fall Competition Squad for the 2009/2010 school year.  Tryouts for the basketball season squads will be in early November.  Note that students can cheer for both seasons.  The Varsity Football Squad & Fall Competition Squad will be open to all grade levels and the JV squads will be open to 9th and 10thgraders.  A max of 16 cheerleaders will be selected for the Varsity and Competition squads.  A max of 14 cheerleaders will be selected for the JV squads.

***Cheerleaders are available to do local community appearances during the months of August through March.  If you are interested in having the cheerleaders perform at a local event please contact Coach Tarlton directly.
