Talk about the worst scenario for a coach, coming off a big win playing
a game that on paper should be relatively easy. The word letdown came
to mind to ZCHS head coach Ramon Aguillon, but the Lady Eagles were
having none of that as they steamrolled past the Lafayette Jeff
Bronchos 5-0 in a rain shortened game at ZYSA Eagle Field.
The
Lady Eagles jumped all over Lafayette Jeff as five different players
scored. Hadley Stuart tallied her second goal of the season; Kasey
McKenney, Lindsey Hansen, Tiffany Dove, and Katie McGlocklin also
scored goals. Alyssa Allsop led the team with two very nice assists.
The
game was controlled by Zionsville from the kick off as they mounted
attack after attack on the Lady Bronchos goal. Lafayette Jeff's defense
did a good job defending the first 20 minutes of the game, keeping the
score only 1-0, but the flood gates opened as Zionsville scored four
goals in the last 18 minutes of the half.
"This was a game that
our girls were prepared for and did what they needed to do to win",
said head coach Ramon Aguillon. "It is very difficult to play only 48
hours after such a huge emotional draining game like the one on Modnay
against Carmel, but the girls did an excellent job staying composed and
playing good solid soccer". "In particular I was very proud of our
sophomores Katie and Tiffany who played very well and scored their
first goal on the varsity level"
Zionsville's record goessto 2-0
for the season, as they prepare to finish off their home stand this
Saturday at 2:30PM when they face the North Central Lady Panthers.
