Southport pushes through county tournament

The Marion Country Cross-Country Tournament took place on Saturday, Oct. 3rd at Brebeuf Jesuit Prep School.  Southport took seventh place out of 16 competing teams. Senior Nicolette Crouch grabbed 10th place and received all-county honors.

Other scorers included junior Kelly Hodges in 21st place, junior Emily Odle in 23rd place, senior Allison Zorman in 50th place and junior Katy White in 58th place.  Head coach Nathan Fishel mentioned that although this meet is important, the team’s main focus is advancing in the state tournament.

“Like all teams, we are trying to train and work to be the best we can be for the state tournament. Our goal is to win the sectional meet, advance through the regional meet, and compete and battle as well as possible allowing us to place as high as possible at the semi-state meet,” said Fishel.

Senior Nicolette Crouch: 10th

Junior Kelly Hodges: 21st

Junior Emily Odle: 23rd

Senior Allison Zorman: 50th

Junior Katy White: 58th
