ILWACO FOOTBALL
Ilwaco football will establish a reputation for clean, hard contact. Football can be a very positive and rewarding experience. As a student athlete you must succeed in the classroom to succeed on the field. It is of utmost importance that you get your priorities straight; student first, athlete second! We expect 100% effort in both the classroom and on the field.
*TWO RULES: Breaking these rules will result in a consequence
1) Don’t Embarrass The Program!
2) Don’t Let Down Your Teammates!
When doing something ask yourself – Will I be letting down my teammates? To be successful, we must be headed in the same direction. We will at all times be supportive of our teammates and represent the best of Ilwaco High School on and off the field.
We will follow and uphold the rules stated in the school policy.
Attend practice! Unexcused miss = Missed game (s) or removal!
Lettering and the "BIG I"
The varsity letter acknowledges players who represent our school. The varsity letter is an important goal for the first time letter-winner but should not be viewed as the top rung on the ladder. The following is the basic lettering criteria:
1. Offensive or defensive starter for a minimum of three games.
2. Special teams starter in five (5) games.
3. Play in one-half of all quarters. A quarter consists of two consecutive plays.
4. Special consideration at coach's discretion. (ie. potential letter-winner who is injured for the season but comes to all practices and games).
5. Successfully complete the season, which ends at the awards banquet.
