Stuart (3-4, 2-2) at Hayfield (5-2, 4-0), 7:30 p.m. Friday
Last Week: Stuart lost to Yorktown, 39-14; Hayfield won at Wakefield, 52-12
PowerPoints: Stuart - 11th (Div. 5); Hayfield - 7th (Div. 5)
Offensive Rank (Pts/Game): Stuart - 8th (Div. 5); Hayfield - 1st (Div. 5)
Defensive Rank (Pts/Game): Stuart - 8th (Div. 5); Hayfield - T6th (Div. 5)

Quick, who, other than Westfield, is the only remaining unbeaten team in district play?

Look up, guy, it's Hayfield.

But the Hawks are the lowest-ranked team, by PowerPoints, among any with five wins. They've been hurt by the 0-14 combined record by their last two opponents.

Closing with Stuart, Falls Church and Edison may require two more wins, depending how things fall in the final three weeks. Should its trio of running threats repeat their performance from last week, Hayfield will be just fine here. Senior quarterback Anton McCallum, senior running back Rayshawn Rigans and sophomore running back Steve Lynch combined for 23 carries, 218 yards and five touchdowns in a 40-point road win over Wakefield.

Rigans added a 53-yard touchdown grab from junior quarterback Jason Stewart.

Hayfield has the top-ranked offense in the Northern Region, Division 5 or Division 6.

The key determinant in this game is how the Hawks handle the Raider offense, which added a wrinkle last week that may permeate throughout the region in the coming years.

Stuart deployed an A-11 offense on five first-half plays, which lines up the required six down linemen to wide side of the field, making the snapper an eligible receiver. Run properly, it simplifies the field to four-on-four or five-on-five match-ups, always favorable to the offense.

In the first half, the Raiders' conventional offense managed 1.88 yards per attempt, committed five turnovers and scored zero points. The A-11 version averaged 5.80 yards per play with no turnovers and a 14-yard touchdown pass from Jason Friday to tight end Ricarlo Bell.

Hayfield will be playing its first game under interim head coach Roy Hill, stepping in for 11-year coach Billy Pugh, who suffered a stroke Monday.

This is the first meeting between the teams since the early 1990s. Due to its low strength of schedule, Stuart needs a win to keep its playoff hopes alive.
