Daniel Marrs is headed to Wake Forest next year but he won't be too homesick as teammate Austin Stadler will be joining him there.
Daniel Marrs, James River Rapids

Height: 6-3             Age: 18

Position: P/1B           Year: Senior

Performance: Marrs threw a no-hitter as James River beat Clover Hill 18-1. He also had an RBI double in the victory.

On pitching a no-hitter: “It can be just being on and sometimes it can be luck. Last game was a little bit of both. Carter Brown (shortstop) made a play to save a hit. I didn’t feel like I had my best velocity but I was mixing up pitches and getting them to hit ground balls right at people.”

Best trait: “That depends. As a pitcher my velocity is my best physical attribute. Character-trait wise my competitiveness but sometimes I overdue it and have to apologize. I haven’t had to lately though.”

Something to improve on: “My consistency of my breaking pitch. Every now and then I will break off a good one. I have been working on that for two years. It is still a work in progress.”

Favorite music: “I listen to anything that is called Rock and Roll. As far as a favorite band that changes by the month.”

Favorite food: “I eat anything, I’m not picky. I like steak.”

Funniest teammate:Gil Evans (infield). As to why I don’t really know how to describe him. He is a very unique fellow. It is hard to explain the way he is.”

Favorite classes: “Math and science. I am taking this business management class that is pretty fun.”

Favorite MLB team: Atlanta Braves

Favorite video games: Guitar Hero III, Super Smash Bros. Brawl

On playing at Wake Forest next year: “Growing up playing in the back yard and having a dream, there is no way for me to be more excited. I get to go out and play with one of my teammates (Austin Stadler is also playing at Wake Forest). I have been committed for a while and I am still excited.”
