The Gaithersburg Metros traveled to Baltimore on Tuesday night and they came
to play. The Metros had 14 runs and 14 hits against the under 15
Maryland Orioles, in a Mid-Atlantic Baseball Association game at Babe
Ruth Field on the campus of Cardinal Gibbons, as they beat the home team
14-3. It was the 17th win of the year for the Metros against
just five losses.
Pitcher Steve Milner (Quince Orchard) held the potent Oriole line-up
to six hits. Centerfielder Nick Riley (Gaithersburg), DH Steve
Kinderman (Richard Montgomery), short-stop Joe Portney (Quince
Orchard) and left-fielder Koji Ishid (Quince Orchard) all had two hits
each for Gaithersburg. Kinderman had a double and scored two runs,
Ishid had two RBI.
Zach Exler (Gaithersburg) had a triple and two RBI. and Chris Guerra had a triple and three RBI.
The Metros scored four in the first, four more in the second, and they
tallied in all five innings in a game that ended on the ten-run rule
after five complete.
League playoffs begin on Thursday.
