The top 25 players were selected by a committee of  high school coaches from Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee after a three hour evaluation process on May 24 at Georgia State University Pantherville Intramural Fields in Atlanta, Georgia that included individual position drills, time-testing for speed and a series of scrimmages.  Registration for the on-field evaluation was open to all high school underclassmen players entering grades 10,11 and 12.

The adidas National Lacrosse Classic features the top high school underclassmen lacrosse players in the country.  Sixteen regional teams, including Atlanta, will compete for a National Championship, July 18-20, 2008 at the Maryland Soccerplex in Germantown, Maryland to determine the best region of high school lacrosse players in the United States.

The winner of the adidas National Lacrosse Classic will play against Canada for the Brogden Cup in Orlando, Florida December 5-8, 2008 to determine the best region of high school lacrosse players in North America.

Head lacrosse coach of Westminster High school, Tony Souza and Altoonna High School head lacrosse coach John Hunter have been named to coach the Southeast Regional team in this summer’s adidas National High School Lacrosse Classic.

Coach John Hunter comments on his selection. “Adidas is a recognized leader in the sports community. To be selected as one of the coaches for the Atlanta team is one of the best honors of my coaching career. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with some of the best lacrosse athletes in the southeast. We have an opportunity to share our love of the sport with some of the premiere players from around the country.

The event holds meaning for the players. “The greatest need for athletes to improve their game is playing in a venue that showcases individual talent in the structure of an elite team. Players who challenge their ability and spend time working with other great players will see their abilities rise to the next level and position themselves as real national recruit. Adidas has recognized the need to help athletes from around the country and is committed to help each one of them reach their personal goals. Every athlete who has the opportunity to play for the Adidas team will experience excellence both on and off the field” says, Hunter.

adidas Lacrosse is committed to creating innovative, performance-driven products to fit the needs of the lacrosse player. For a closer look at adidas lacrosse equipment and apparel, go to www.adidas.com/lacrosse.
