The Irondequoit lacrosse team has earned a reputation as one of the premier lacrosse programs in the country. In November, 2006, it was the subject of a documentary film called "Irondequoit: Lacrosse Town USA". From its founding in 1957 through the 2008 season, the lacrosse team has never finished a season with a losing record. Irondequoit lacrosse teams have won 28 championship titles and have produced 30 High School All-Americans, plus a long list of college lacrosse coaches.

Its alumni include such notables as Jeff Long (Navy and Team USA), Paul Cantabene (MLL Baltimore Bayhawks), Andrew Whipple (Maryland), and Joe Walters (Maryland and Team USA).

The Whipple brothers, Andrew and Craig will coach the adidas Rochester underclassmen team in the adidas National Lacrosse Classic July 18-20, 2008 in Germantown, Maryland. Both Andy and Craig are Irondequoit High alumni where their father was head lacrosse coach. Currently, Craig Whipple is the head varsity lacrosse coach at Irondequoit High.
