January 2008 Clinic Was A HUGE Success!!!!

The weather cooperated and we had a record attendance at our annual Hall of Fame Luncheon and clinic. We had 289 members in attendance at the clinic and 340 at the Hall of Fame Luncheon.

Great things are happening with the MHSBCA due to the help of many people.
Tony Perkins did a great job as always getting vendors. The word is out how successful our clinic is that vendors are actually calling us to be a part of our association. Their support is vital to the MHSBCA and we must support them as well. Keep up the good work Perk!!

Bob Coons put a superb line up of speakers together.  Also, we would like to extend special thanks goes to J.R. Simmons and his helpers for taking care of the audio/visual equipment. They did a tremendous job making sure everything went smoothly.

Bob already has Guy Simmons from Frank Phillips College to speak on “hitting” and Ron Davini, Executive Director of the BCA and ex-college World Series MVP catcher to speak on “catching”. Bob will continue to add to the list of names to ensure another outstanding line up for 2009.

The registration went smooth due to the amount of coaches who pre-registered. I would encourage all to do this because it saves you money and time standing in line at the registration table. Also, thanks to Dave Scheer for helping out at the registration table with raffle tickets and t-shirt sales, so Janet could do what she does best, using the computer to keep everyone straight.

The current membership is 362. I still believe we can break the “400” members mark. This spring encourage every coach (head and assistant) you come in contact with during your games to join the MHSBCA.

Membership of 500 plus could be a realistic goal if everyone in the state helps to recruit new members. An added note, we welcome all athletic directors as members also. The more members involved the more voice we have in baseball.
Good luck on your upcoming season! ~ Bill Seamon
