09/25/2009 -- J.R. Tucker's boys' varsity football team defeated Henrico, 20-17, in a non-district contest.
The Tucker Tigers continue to prove themselves as a legitimate team in the Central Region. Led by seniors Jered and Jacob Bennett and junior Montre Carr, Tucker played a ball-control running game establishing almost 300 yards of rushing offense.
The Tigers' defense played stingy all night, yielding a mere 157 yards in total offense. Junior Parker Cherlin led the defense with 15 tackles, a sack and two fumble recoveries.
Senior Robert Cheeseman also continues to be solid against the run from the middle linebacker position.
The play of the night: Bennett taking a knee as time expired. This is a play the Tigers look like they will be running more often if they continue with efforts and performances like they have displayed in all three of their contests this year.
