Leesburg (May 1, 2009) - They entered high school as adoloscents and they will exit as young adults, but what has remained the same for the four-year lacrosse athletes at Broad Run High School is that every single year the boys and girls have taken home at least a piece of the AA Dulles District regular season title. The Spartans girls and boys teams assured thesmselves of Dulles dominance for a fourth straight year as they both improved to 7-0 in district with victories over Heritage Thursday.

The Broad Run girls won 23-2 while the boys took the Pride, 19-7. All that the Dominion boys (7-1) and Loudoun County girls (6-1) can do is hope that BR falters in their season finales against Potomac Falls. The best that would do is gain a share of the title but the top seed and automatic regional bid belongs to the Broad Run boys and girls as they own head-to-head wins over their closest challengers.

While the Spartan boys had to share a regular season title with George Mason and Heritage in 2008 and Broad Run was pushed to the limit in 2007 by Heritage as the Pride captured the district tournament in overtime, the Pride didn't have enough depth, especially defense, on their Senior Night to keep up wi the impressive stick work of the Spartans.

Tim Sanders poured in seven goals and Andrew Londos had two goals and six assists. Ryan Madigan (3 goals, 2 assists) and David Weaver (3 goals, 1 assist) also each had three scores as Broad Run sprinted out to an early 8-2 advantage in the first quarter.

Heritage had its best quarter in the second, out-scoring the Spartans 5-2, behind the play of Russell East and Nik Smith but Broad Run stepped it up in the second half on defense as Will Field (11 of BR's 34 ground balls) and company held Heritage to a single goal after the break.

All told, the Broad Run boys are now 38-2 against Dulles District foes since 2006 including 30-1 in the regular season and 8-1 in postseason. The girls run has been even more impressive as they have gone 40-0 against district foes since 2006.
