Purcellville (May, 9, 2009) - It was the biggest of big nights at Loudoun Valley Friday as the Vikes were victorious over Battlefield in softball, baseball and boys soccer in key AAA Cedar Run District contests, and in boys and girls lacrosse in a Cedar Run tournament quarterfinal swep over Eastern View. Simply put, on this night ... the Vikes could not be beat.

On the softball diamond it was the Vikes (16-2) handing undefeated Battlefield (15-1) its first loss of the season in a 4-3 victory that came down to the last pitch where Valley rightfielder Katlyn Latka tracked down a shot on the run towards the fence with the game-tying run headed home from second base.

On the main stadium it was the girls and boys lacrosse teams romping past Eastern View, 18-1 and 20-3, and in the nightcap it was the boys soccer team, winning for just the second time all year, stunning Battlefield, ranked third in the Metro area, 3-2. And over at Fireman's Field it was more Valley as the Vikes took the Bobcats, 2-1, in nine innings of play.
