LoudounPrepSports Editor Dan Sousa returned to Ashburn late Sunday night and will be putting up content from the three state title games involving Loudoun teams at Radford on Monday and Tuesday. Plenty of photos and videos to share!

Here is a brief recap:

AAA Softball
Great Bridge 1, Loudoun Valley 0
The Skinny: The Vikes attempt to add a AAA title to their AA softball crowns comes up a run shy at Westfield on Sunday. Angela "Who is on First?" Watts has the full story (hey, she only had to drive 20 minutes home yesterday!) with photos and videos. Click here for the coverage!

AA Softball
Broad Run 2, Tunstall 1 (11 innings)
The Skinny: Wow. What a great title game. Maggie Betz singles with two outs in the bottom of the 11th inning at Veteran's Park in Radford and then Jenn Soroka doubles into the Left-center gap and Betz motors home. The catcher was up the line to get the throw and Betz goes around and touches the plate to set off a wild Spartan celebration. BR senior pitcher Judy Betz pitched her heart out, going the distance with 13 strikeouts. She had 26 K's in the two days at Radford (OK, three if you count that rain day ... and trust me, we are counting it on our expense report). It is a third straight title for the Spartan softball program with Tunstall a victim all three years (2007 semifinals, 2008 finals and 2009 finals). Check back for photos, videos and more of the story.

AA Girls Soccer
Broad Run 3, Hidden Valley 0
The Skinny: It was almost just another game for a dominant BR team as they wrapped up an incredible season where they allowed only four goals in 24 games. VHSL records abound: 48-game unbeaten streak after back-to-back titles; 20 shutouts in one season for Caitlin Hunter and the Spartan defense and a 63 career shutous for the UNC-Wilmington bound Hunter. Freshman Erin Brady, sophomore Whitney Church (who had three goals in the two wins at Radford) and senior Valerie Powell all scored. The state title sends off a senior class of eight on a winning note. Check back for photos and photos. I'm talking a lot of photos!

AA Boys Soccer
Blacksburg 3, Potomac Falls 2 (2 OT)
The Skinny: Are you kidding me?!?! Blacksburg (the New York Yankees of AA boys soccer) does it to Potomac Falls once again. Back in 2005, PF fell in the state semifinals to Blacksburg after a last second goal and then yesterday after an incredible comeback capped by Asa Fox scoring a go-ahead goal with less than two minutes to play, the Panthers were stunned when Blacksburg scored with less than five seconds remaining to send the match into overtime. After a first 10-minute OT went scoreless, the two teams went into sudden death or Golden Goal. Penalty kicks were next after 10 minutes but with 3:38 left, Blacksburg delighted the "home crowd" (seriously, let's move AA for a couple years up in this area and see how the New River Valley folks like the road trip) with a game-winner. More on this story plus photos and videos later.
