T-Mac's Take
Prince George's County Exclusive Blog, Volume 1: Issue 2
By James A. McCray III

Predictions
Yeah, so the Prince George's County Blog Spot title lived for a total of seven days. With this issue comes the new title, bestowed upon me by co-workers at a meeting; T-Mac's Take.

The title is a play from my nickname and last name, Trey McCray, and not to mention a play off of my XBOX Live screen name -- no, you cannot have the screen name unless you are more than halfway decent in Gears of War 2.

Anyway, get used to the new name, T-Mac's Take.

First things first, my predictions score from last week, 4-1, a healthy 80 percent. Yesssss, off to a good start indeed; now, on to this week's predictions.

I was watching a classic movie while I prepared this, Coming to America starring Eddie Murphy. It was a great movie all the way around, and one of Murphy's greatest projects, so that sets this week's theme for predictions.

Trey believes ...

In Another 48 Hours, there will be a full slate of boys basketball teams looking to be The Distinguished Gentlemen. Fairmont Heights will get a victory over Surrattsville, and Gwynn Park should get a win over Largo.

Who will have the Best Defense in Friendly-Potomac boys' contest? I say Friendly, as the Patriots pick up a win over Potomac as Friendly guard A.J. Thomas is The Golden Child.

I Spy a DuVal girls basketball victory over Oxon Hill Friday night and an overtime game for Frederick Douglass and Central.

The Eleanor Roosevelt Lady Raiders are living the good Life and will pick up a victory over Bladensburg.

*Insert Eddie Murphy's famous laugh here and just label me The Nutty Professor*

Wednesdays
Yeah, so I know I originally stated that T-Mac's Take would be published every Tuesday, but Wednesdays it is, now and forever more. Weird, but with my new-found Tuesday duties, Wednesdays work better for me.

Interns
Want to become an intern and cover your high school sports? E-mail me and let me know you are interested, and I can get you set up.

Random
Anytime you --yes, you reading this now, don't point to yourself or look around, yes YOU-- see me at a game, you may notice I have on some type of Jordans on. That's because, those are the only shoes I own.

Yeah, some may say Jordans are played out, but during my time in high school, c/o 2003, Jordans was all the rage, and I have never let that go.

Yes, I collect them, yes, I have some on the shelf in which I have never worn, and some on the shelf I wear all of the time.

It's my thing, it makes me unique, and I can't see myself giving up the chase for rare or classic Jordans.

So, with that said, I guess I will feature one of my Jordans every once in a while. Something just to keep everyone in tuned with my hunt for Jordans; this week, my newest purchase, Air Jordan XX3. I purchased these on Black Friday.

About the Photo
The lead photo for this week's issue was of me with Dominique Dawes, former Olympian.

This photo was taken by photographer Gary Smith who passed away last week due to a heart attack.

Putting this photo to lead my blog was my way of honoring him.

Honoring Coach Lynch
So, Prince George's County; my first blog entry ever is here. Everyone always told me how fun it was to blog. I never thought I would get into it. However, after sitting here at my computer and thinking to myself, I thought why not debut my blog for the county I spent most of my life in.

But, before all is said and done, I must pay my respects to a great person not just in the county, but in the state, David 'Nick' Lynch. Unfortunately, my blog arrives on a day where a great man leaves us as his funeral is scheduled for today (Tuesday), and in no way am I trying to 'upstage' his particular day. But to be quite honest, I remember Coach Lynch from my high school days at Oxon Hill -- c/o 2003.

It is kind of ironic how I went from hearing about him in high school to covering him on the sidelines. I remember on a few days hearing his name come from the football offices, or reading his name in the paper. And just a few years later, I went from hearing about him, to interviewing him to, myself, putting his name in the media.

Lynch was a man of character. Win or loss, he talked to me with no ill-intent in his voice, no disrespect towards the other team and always made a joke or two to lighten the mood up, a far cry from how he was on the sidelines.
All in all, Lynch will always be remembered by not only me, but so many of us who spent most of our days in Prince George's County.

But think of it like this, he has a new set of white sidelines in the clouds, and he has a new group of players to coach, angels. Coach Nick Lynch forever remembered.

Who am I?
Well, as many of you have seen already my name is James A. McCray III. I go by Trey as a generational nickname, and I prefer it, but James is alright as well, as long as you don't call me Jim. Why do most people believe that Jim is a nickname for James? ~Smile~

I arrived with DigitalSports in week 7 of the football regular season, and as I got right into working, I never had the opportunity to properly introduce myself to the county.

As I have made my way to schools and games, many faces recognize me and vice versa--again, I graduated from Oxon Hill in 2003. But as I continue to make my way to and from respective schools, you all will get to know me.

Here is a little about me. I am a 23 year-old cancer, I love long walks on the beach, reading books by the fire, no, really, just kidding. But, I do love what I do very much in covering high-school sports, and I like to have fun as well.

This is Prince George's County's blog. This will not be published on any other county page, as it is an exclusive to Prince George's County.

As more blogs appear -cough- once a week, every Tuesday -cough- be sure to e-mail with thoughts, quotes, concerns and hey, maybe your e-mail may make it to the blog!

P.G. Predictions
This is my bread and butter, my predictions. Now I must preface my predictions with this statement. My predictions are for fun purposes ONLY. In no way am I disrespecting a respective team, yet having fun with the games before they happen.

I will keep a running tab of my score -- if it is a good score -- and hey, if you can get a better score than me, this can be your blog spot. But again, remember, these predictions are for means of having fun and fun only.

With that said, Trey believes ...

I was watching some random show on television the other night, and it got to a point in the show where this auction guy was talking super fast while auctioning items for sale. I could not understand a word he said until he yelled, "Sold!" So, with that said, welcome to the DS auction house.

Come one, come all, this is the DigitalSports wins and losses auction where we auction off wins, wins, wins, and oh yeah did I say wins. Who wants wins on this fine night? You do, that's right!

One-one--tw-tw-two, do I hear three, fo-fo-fo- do I hear four wins for the Roosevelt girls? SOLD! Four wins for the Eleanor Roosevelt girls' basketball team tonight over Henry Wise.

Po-Po-Po, Fair-Fair-Fair, do I hear a win for Potomac or Fairmont Heights? Come on people give me something ~insert talking fast and not understanding the guy here~ SOLD! Potomac boys basketball with the win.

*More talking fast* SOLD! Bowie boys over DuVal, SOLD! C.H. Flowers over Oxon Hill, SOLD! SOLD! SOLD! Suitland over High Point girls and Largo over Crossland boys.

*After a brief pause, the 'talking fast' guy gets back on the microphone*

Alright people, I am done, the DS auction house is gone for the night.

(Please remember, the P.G. Predictions are for the purposes of fun only)
