Kenwood's varsity baseball club did not get off to a good start yesterday, the buses were late, the traffic was horrendous and the bus driver got lost. However, after finally arriving, the Bluebird’s assured nothing was going to stop them from taking home a win.
Kenwood continued it's winning ways with a 16-2 thrashing of Western Tech. In the top of the first, Larry Hicks set the tone for the game leading off with solidly roped triple to right center. The hit parade kept on coming and by the end of the inning ,the Bluebirds had amassed 10 runs on 8 base knocks.
The Birds then put four more runs on the board in the second and added single runs in the 3rd and 5th innings respectively. The Wolverines never recovered from the 13-hit Bluebird attack.
Randy Marshall continued to carry a hot bat for the Bluebirds. Marshall added five RBI’s on three hits, which included a double and triple. Josh Pagliaro, Josh James, Allan Ogle and Steve Fama also contributed to the cause with two hits each.
In an impressive performance, Josh Nagel recorded his first win in his first start of the season. In five innings, Josh gave up only four hits while striking out 10 Wolverines.
With this victory the Bluebirds improved their record to 10-2 overall. There are only five games left in the regular season; the last two home games for the Bluebirds are Monday against Catonsville and Wednesday against Western Tech.
