Junior guard Chris Fusco poured in 15 points, including a pair of second half three-point plays on rebound stickbacks, to help lift Key to its first win of the season, a 60-58 victory against host Calverton. Thirteen of those 15 points came after halftime.
"Chris stepped up offensively when we needed him," first-year Obezags coach James Peters said. "He crashed the offensive boards hard and was rewarded. It doesn't surprise, however, considering he poured in a season-high 14 points in our MIAA C JV championship win last year."
Senior guards Jake Maldonado and Charlie Flanagan produced 13 points apiece while junior guard Harrison Barton, saddled most of the game with foul trouble, and senior center Anthony Fusco added seven and six points, respectively. Maldonado put the game away with a free throw with seven seconds remaining to make the score 60-56.
