Park 79, Key boys 78
Trailing by a point with about five seconds left in the game, Key senior guard Charlie Flanagan, who poured in 22 points for the game, had his pull-up jumper go just long and an attempted follow by senior center Anthony Fusco came to late after some contact, allowing host Park to hold on for the MIAA C Conference win.
Park (4-2, 3-0 MIAA C) gained the lead at good with about nine seconds left on a running shot by Karl Nelson, who finished with a game-high 33 points. "He was on fire," said Obezags coach James Peters, whose squad fell to 4-6 overall, 2-1 in the MIAA C. "Jake [Maldonado] was in his face all game but he just made everything he put in the fourth quarter."
Besides Flanagan, Key received 18 points from Maldonado, including four 3-pointers, 13 points from Fusco and 12 points from junior Harrison Barton.
"It was a great high school game," Peters said. "Well not that good because we lost."
