Stone Bridge playoff scenario:
Clinched playoff berth
Clinch No. 1 seed in Division 5 with win over South Lakes
Clinch No. 1 seed in Division 5 with loss and Lee loss at T.C. Williams
Clinch No. 1 seed in Division 5 with loss, Lee win AND wins by West Springfield, Heritage, South County, Edison AND Marshall.
Clinch No. 2 seed in Division 5 with loss, Lee win OR losses by West Springfield, Heritage, South County, Edison OR Marshall.
Can finish no lower than No. 2 seed.

South Lakes, meanwhile, after a 5-1 start, is still not mathematically guaranteed a bid.

If the Seahawks lose and six of the following nine happen, South Lakes will be on the outside looking in: Langley beats McLean, Washington-Lee beats Yorktown, Briar Woods beats Dominion, Stuart beats Falls Church, Wilson (D.C.) beats Roosevelt, Madison beats Jefferson, Centreville beats Robinson, Herndon beats Westfield and Wakefield beats Mount Vernon.

Someone, somewhere, owes me food.

By that same token, with a win the Seahawks could vault as high as the No. 3 seed.

But, BC Calculus aside, these teams will play football.

The only district opponent to beat Stone Bridge since October 2002, Madison, is also the last team South Lakes defeated. In that win, the Seahawks used their explosive running game and hawking defense -- sorry -- to win by seven on the road.

Ironically, it was the Warhawk running game, and superior field position, which doomed the Bulldogs late last month in Ashburn.

South Lakes' team passing yards have decreased steadily over the last three weeks, while its rushing totals have gradually increased, peaking at 320 against Langley last week. So, while Madison's formula against Stone Bridge was to grind it out on the ground, the Seahawks might be best served to return to their passing attack, should forecasted winds be tolerable.

From the Bulldogs, expect a 90-percent chance of Harris throughout the day. Stone Bridge junior Marcus Harris broke the single-season school record for carries last week at McLean and posted his fourth 200-yard night of the year.

In two games since the loss to Madison, he's had 76 carries for 408 yards and three scores.
