The North Point boys track and field team totalled 144 points to comfortably come out on top of the SMAC meet on Saturday at Great Mills, while Leonardtown's girls maintained their position at the top of the conference by narrowly slipping past North Point's girls.
While the boys race offered little drama, with North Point outdistancing runner-up Northern by 76 points, Leonardtown's 107 was just two greater than North Point. Click HERE for all of the meet results.
Three meet records fell during the competition. North Point senior Tristan Benton jumped 6 feet 9 inches in the high jump to eclipse the former mark by three inches. Fellow North Point senior Geranda Williams set a new triple jump mark with a jump of 39-01. Eagles junior Shavon Briscoe won the girls 100 hurdles in a record 14.17 seconds.
