Hello Parents of a Varsity Barstow Debater-

 

Here is the information for the tournament on Friday and Saturday.  It is a national circuit (TOC qualifier) so it is longer and more difficult than the other local tournaments we have attended.  It has *much* better judging, so I'm hopeful for the results for our two experienced teams--the novices are entered to get in some national circuit-style debates in preparation for the Chicago trip. The tournament has elimination rounds, so after the round that ends about 3:30 on Saturday, the teams have to win each debate in order to continue debating.  

 

It will make for some long days, so encourage your children to rest up!

 

If you live closer to Olathe North than Barstow, just let me know that you'd prefer to pick your child up there rather than at school.  Also let me know if you'd prefer to drive them to Olathe North rather than to Barstow on Saturday morning.

Sunday Nov. 2nd (KCKCC)

Departure Times

We will departBarstow at 1:50 PM on Friday.  I'll bring them back to Barstow ASAP, my best guess is it will be 10ish. We will leave Barstow on Saturday at 7:30 AM.  [I'm so glad we get an extra hour of sleep Saturday night!]

The tournament continues on Sunday.  If any of our teams are still debating, the location will shift to the campus of KCK Community College.  I hope we'll have to leave Barstow at 7:30 AM on Sunday.  

 

Dinner & Lunch

On Saturday, lunch is provided by the tournament but they will need money for a meal on Friday night.  We'll be doing fast food, so send whatever you think they'll need.
