Bethesda-Chevy Chase gymnasts finished the regular season meets undefeated for the third year in a row with a win over Springbrook Thursday.

In a season fraught with illness and injury, B-CC showed its depth and conviction, this regular season and hopes to carry that into next Tuesday’s Montgomery County Gymnastics Championships at Blake.

In Thursday's meet, all the gymnasts were present except for Abby Klein, who is still out due to illness. B-CC's team score for this first place win was 171.55, just two points under their season-high score in a meet with Blake. Springbrook posted a score of 97.2.

B-CC started on vault with junior Ebony Walters taking first with 8.75 points.  Second place went to Springbrook and then B-CC took the rest.  Sophomore Whitney Boross took third place with 8.65 points, fourth place (8.6) went to sophomore Julie Siegel, fifth place (8.3) to junior Allegra Barnes  and sixth place (8.2) to junior Lydia Marks.

Bars was a difficult event for B-CC because Springbrook's bar set will not stretch to the setting the gymnasts are accustomed to using.  Still Boross placed second (8.5), Walters placed third (8.4), Marks placed fourth (8.0), Siegel place fifth (7.7), and Barnes placed sixth (7.0).

Balance Beam was won beautifully by Walters with a 9.75 routine.  Siegel placed second with a strong 9.6 routine. Third place went to Boross with 9.0, fourth place went to Marks with 8.6, and fifth place to Steph Golob with 8.4.

Floor Exercise featured ties for second and fourth.  Walters placed first with 9.5, second place was shared by Siegel and Golob each with 9.0. Third place went to Boross with 8.5. Fourth place was shared by Marks and Barnes with 8.1. Senior Lauren Beck took fifth place with 8.1.
