*Justifications coming soon!*
1. Robinson (11-1-2) -- LW: 3
The
Rams beat sixth-seeded Oakton, 1-0,
on a freak throw-in goal in the 78th minute on Wednesday before a
less-chaotic win over Centreville, 1-0, in the Concorde District
championship. Robinson host a young, dangerous Langley side (8-3-2) in
the first round of the Northern Region Tournament on Tuesday. The Rams
are ranked No. 7 nationally by ESPNRise.
2. Battlefield (10-1-3) -- LW: 4
The
Bobcats drew with Osbourn Park, again, last week and face Fauquier in
the Cedar Run District semifinals on Tuesday night. Battlefield is
ranked No. 27 nationally by ESPNRise.
3. Westfield (12-2-0) -- LW: 1
The
Bulldogs earned the top seed -- and a first-round bye -- in the
Concorde District tournament, but fell in the tournament semifinals to
Centreville, 3-1. Now, Westfield must face No. 8 Stone Bridge in an
elimination in the first round of the Northern Region Tournament, which
the Ashburn-native Bulldogs won last year. The Chantilly-native
Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 41 nationally by ESPNRise.
4. South County (12-1-1) -- LW: 6
The Stallions are clicking on all pistons after a penalty-kick win over
Annandale and a come-from-behind, 2-1 win over Hayfield earned them
their first-ever Patriot District championship. South County is ranked
No. 12 nationally by ESPNRise, has the best statistical defense in the
D.C. area and faces Stuart (5-10) in the first round of the Northern
Region Tournament.
