Along with his All-WCAC honor, Thomas was named to the Washington Post All-Metro team and participated in the 36th annual Capital Classic All-Star Game at American University's Bender Arena. Thomas, who was named to the all-tournament team, helped lead the Capital All-Stars to a 129-98 win over U.S. All Stars by scoring 16 points.
Thomas had several high-scoring games for the Cadets during the 2008-09 season. He scored 26 points in a loss to Bishop McNamara and totaled 25 points in a win against St. Mary's Ryken. Thomas also tallied 20 points in a WCAC Tournament win over Bishop Ireton.
Thomas is the first St. John's boys basketball student-athlete to sign a Division I National Letter of Intent since 2007 when Chris Wright (Georgetown) and Vlad Moldoveanu (George Mason) decided to continue their basketball careers.
