Vienna (Aug. 6, 2009) - Kevin McLister, former Loudoun County High School standout and 2-time Dulles District Player of the year in 2005 and 2006, qualified this week for the 2009 U.S. Amaetuer to be played at Southern Hills Golf Club in Tulsa, Okla. starting on Aug. 24.
McLister, who is a rising Junior on a golf scholarship at University of Delaware, shot six under 138 at Westwood Country Club on Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 to tie for second out of 132 hopeful qualifiers.
This will be his first U.S. Amateur championship competition for McLister and follows up a successful summer where he made the cut at the Eastern Amateur in Portsmouth and qualified and making the cut at the Virginia Open in Richmond.
Kevin's older brother Joey, who also had a very successful career at both Loudoun County HS and the University of Delaware, holds eight Delaware school records, The elder McLister has turned Pro and plays on the Gateway Tour in Scottsdale , AZ. Joey McLister also qualified and played in the 2005 U.S. Amateur held at Merion outside Philadelphia.
