The Varsity Knights had another good tournament weekend, this time at Lone Jack. The Knights started off the day a little slow, beating Napoleon-Wellington 25-18, 25-8, but then losing two straight to St. Paul's. After that match, the Knights were in a must win situation in order to make it out of pool play and into the tournament. After lunch, they turned it on against Lone Jack, beating them  25-18, 25-18. Highlights of that match included 10 kills by Reddy, only the beginning of her all-day domination.

After sneaking out of pool play with second, the Knights faced their top rival, St. Mary's. For the first time in history, St. Mary's was no match for the Knights. Barstow was absolutely on fire, playing a fast-paced, strong defensive match that knocked the Trojans off their horse. The Knights won 25-20, 25-20 and earned the right to be in the tournament championship. Highlights of that match included 11 kills by Reddy, five by Hammoor and three by Foster. Foster and Reddy each earned five blocks a piece. A huge part of this team's success was the defense of Blatt, who notched 10 digs. Beating this team felt like the Knights had just won the championship, as they have battled against St. Mary's not just this season but in many seasons past.

After the dust settled, the Knights faced Lee Summit Community Christian in the championship and fell 17-25, 22-25. They almost pulled out the second game, but just barely fell short. The Knights were still very happy with their second place medals and look forward to training for Districts this week and playing Christ Prep on Thursday.
