| Maryvale Prep kept its unbeaten mark in IAAM B Conference volleyball play Wednesday, but barely, turning away Notre Dame Prep in five games, 25-19, 16-25, 25-22, 22-25 and 15-9. The Lions improved to 14-1 overall, 11-0 in league. Marisa Joynt served six straight winning points in the decisive fifth game. Senior Libby Boddiford had 15 kills, eight digs and three blocks for Maryvale, and Veronica Arnold chipped in 28 assists, seven aces and five kills. "We dodge a bullet," said Lions' coach Jim Jung. "I knew they [Notre Dame Prep] would be difficult at their house. We have a history of not playing well there." Junior Maggie Kozloski added 10 kills and two blocks, and junior Katie Phelan had eight digs, two aces and one block as Maryvale was without starting middle hitter Kirsten Halbrich (knee) and backup Molly McCurdy (college visit). The Lions will look to complete a perfect regular season league mark Friday at St. John's Catholic before finishing with a non-league match at McDonogh School Monday afternoon.
