Boys Water Polo crushed by MI, 17-8

10/30/09 -- In a game to decide the regular season champion, the Bellevue Boys Water Polo team fell to Mercer Island, 17-8, on Friday afternoon at Edgebrook Pool.

Mercer Island blitzed Bellevue with six first quarter goals, and the Wolverines were unable to recover.  Junior Henry Fox led the Islanders with six goals.  Junior Eugene Chong added three goals.

Senior Justin Dellinger led the Wolverines with three goals, three steals and one ejection drawn.  Sophomore Matt McKaig added two goals and one assist in the loss.

With the loss, the Wolverines finish the season in the three-way tie for second place with Roosevelt and CPA.  A random draw will be held later in the week to determine seeding for the upcoming State Tournament.

Bellevue (21-7) concludes its 2009 season next Saturday and Sunday at King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way in the State Championships.
