It’s always nice to get that
first win. And especially nice when everyone on the team contributes.
Head Coach Heather DeWees
got balanced scoring, and the end result was a 48-16 win for Oldfields over
Oldfields improved to 1-5 in
the C and 3-5 overall.
DeWees told her team early
in pre-season about season goals. “I said we should shoot for at least six
wins. That’s the first in-conference and gives us three overall. We’ll try to
steal and few more here and there before the end of the season. We’ve been
improving and could surprise some team in the play-offs.”
The hosts raced out to a
30-7 lead at the half and cruised from there. Despite putting up 48 points,
Oldfields had only one player in double figures. Senior G Sarah Wall had 10
points to lead the way, but a number of others were bunched together right
behind her.
Sophomore G Kristen Johnson
scored nine, and senior G Kate Roesch and sophomore G Julia Riemer added eight
apiece. Lauren Roesch and Marquerite Copeland also got in the act with six
each.
“It was a well-balanced
effort,” said DeWees. “We won’t have anyone putting up big scoring numbers, but
a lot of different players can and did contribute.”
For
Oldfields, meanwhile, faces
a tough stretch next week, with games against Catholic on Monday and
