Caitlyn McFadden, Maryland

Sophomore Caitlyn McFadden (Phoenix, Md. Notre Dame Prep) was named to the All-ACC team and to the IWLCA All-South Region First Team.  McFadden ranked second on the team with 27 assists and added 27 goals for 54 points which ranked fourth for the Terps. The NDP grad scored a point in 20 of the 21 games for Maryland.  McFadden also ranked third on the team in draw controls (30), fourth in ground balls (31), and sixth in forced turnovers (13). She ranked fourth in the ACC in assists per game (1.29).


Allie Buote, Maryland

Senior Allie Buote (Annapolis, Md. St. Mary's)  Three year starter in goal for Terps. Last season was named ALL-ACC Academic team.  This season, Buote did not make the All-ACC team but was named to the second- team IWLCA All-South Region. Buote's goals against average of 7.55 ranks second in the ACC and fifth nationally. In addition, her .483 save percentage ranks second in the conference and 15th in the country.  She was awarded ACC Player of the Week honors twice, no other goalie in the conference earned the award.

At St. Mary's, Buote was a team captain and MVP in lacrosse and MVP in field hockey and captain on the basketball team.

Yani Newton, Duke

Yani Newton (Baltimore, Md. Park School) Lettered four years in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse at The Park School.  She was an IAAM All-Star for lacrosse from 2002-04.  Newton was the winner of the 2004 C. Markland Kelley, Jr. award for outstanding accomplishments as a student-athlete. 

Newton was a captain on defense for the Blue Devils.  She had 16 ground balls and forced 16 turnovers this season.  Newton, a three-year starter, led the senior class with 78 games played and 61 starts in her career.  She became one of four Blue Devils to earn All-ACC honors.

Megan Del Monte, Duke

Del Monte (Lutherville, Md St. Paul's SfG) was named an IAAM League All-Star twice.  She was the Gators' leading scorer two years in a row with 68 points (41 goals, 27 assists) as a junior and 80 points (39, 41) as a senior as she was named St. Paul’s Athlete of the Year in 2004 and 2005.  Del Monte led her the Gators to a No. 3 National Ranking and No. 2 overall ranking in Maryland in 2004.

Del Monte led Duke with 25 assists in her first season as a starter. She ranked second on the Duke squad in goals with 41 and points with 66.  She is sixth on the Duke single-season assists record list and eighth on the all-time career assists list.  Del Monte earned her first All-ACC selection.

Kady McBrearty, VA Tech

Senior attacker Kady McBrearty (Alexandria, Va. Oldfields) earned All-ACC honors for the second year in a row.   McBrearty led the Hokies in points (60), goals (37), assists (23), and shots (84).  The former Oldfields standout extended her 10-game point streak from the 2007 season to register at least one point in every game of the 2008 season.  She ended her career on a 29-game point streak.

Kady was a two-time IAAM All-Star in lacrosse at the Oldfields School.  In 2003, McBrearty was the leading scorer for the team.
