In a rematch of last year's WCAC Championship game, DeMatha'a lacrosse team came out with a sense of urgency as they defeated Good Counsel 9-3 in front of Good Counsel's home crowd.
The Stags (8-5) rebounded from a tough loss to Landon on Wednesday thanks to sophomore attackman Ryan Belka who scored four goals in the win. Fellow attackman Shaun Gibbons netted two goals of his own and the defense held Good Counsel to one goal by halftime.
"Our offense has been kind of lacking lately," Belka said. "We needed somebody to step up so I tried to get that going."
With the win DeMatha tied Good Counsel atop the WCAC standings and now holds the tiebreaker against the Falcons (4-7).
