Preseason
- Age Appropriate
coaches’ clinics provided for coaches. The schedule of coaching clinics
is released in July and posted on the club calendar.
- Specialty Clinics
are given each fall to touch on areas of the game that cross over
between age groups. In the past these have included a Coerver,
goalkeeping, and athletic enhancement coaching clinics.
- At the beginning of March the club holds the Ice Breaker Coaches Clinic. At this clinic top coaches from across the country present coaching methods and sessions to our coaches.
In Season
- Coaches’ newsletters
are sent during the season to all SAC HC coaches. The newsletter
contains observations from the past weeks games and practices with
suggestions on methods to improve these areas through a practice
progression. If you are not receiving the newsletter email Director of Coaching-Men’s program and request for your email to be added to the SAC HC coaches’ email list.
- Clinic Coaches newsletters
are also sent to distributed. This newsletter is developed from
observations from the past weeks’ clinic sessions. If you are a clinic
coach in SAC and do not receive this newsletter email Director of Coaching-Men’s program and request for your email to be added to the SAC HC clinic coaches’ email list.
- A portion of the each travel coaches’ meeting
is devoted to coaching education. Throughout each season lectures,
panel discussions, group discussions, and guest speakers are used to
help our coaches learn.
- Each age group
in the recreation program meets throughout the season to discuss
methods used to improve their players.
Constant
- The
coaches’ room (lower level of administrative building) has materials
with a goal to keep each coach current with new coaching ideas and
methods. Also on file are numerous files, magazines, and coaching
documents.
- MSYSA holds coaching
education courses throughout the year. SAC HC’s goal is to host an “E”
and “D” course each year. Check www.msysa.org for a complete list of courses offered.
- SAC HC’s resource library is stocked with an abundance of coaching education DVD’s, videos, and books.
- Coaches have access to an animated library of coaching materials.
