CLINICIANS 2009 ICEBREAKER
February 28, 2009
This year SAC/HC has invited several outstanding clinicians to its Icebreaker. As the club continues to enhance its player development program, it has understood that there is a commensurate need for continuing coaching education. The topics and clinicians should provide a range of “learning” situations for the interested coach.
Jorge Alvial, Chelsea Football Club
Session: Possession with a purpose and attacking play for U14’s and above
Jorge has his USSF A license and a Chilean FA Badge; he is the chief Scout for Chelsea Football Club, England for North, south and Central America, he has been a staff coach for FC Dallas, MLS and the Technical Director and Head Coach for the Puerto Rico Islanders, A League, he has also served as the chief recruiter for Universidad de Catolica, Chile.
Jorge played professionally in Chile and Peru and played for the Washington Stars.
Dr. Robert Horn, Adeptico, LLC
Session: Systems of Play and the field session on Spatial Awareness
Dr. Horn has a PhD in skill acquisition and has worked several years for the English F.A. performing match analysis of English Premiership, international and youth soccer matches. He also has written over 15 articles for the F.A. coach’s journal, Insight.
He has coached soccer extensively and is the innovator of several new techniques for coaching perceptual awareness and decision making.
He is currently an Exercise Science professor at Montclair State University.
Coerver Coaching
Session: Technical training emphasizing individual technique and small sided games
Wiel Coerver, the legendary Dutch coach pioneered a innovative skill development coaching program that encouraged young players to emulate moves of the world’s greatest players. This was done teaching individual skills as well as small team group play. As a basis of SAC/HC’s player development program technical training is emphasized from its U9 teams through U14. The session will reflect a “typical” session that players go through in the fall and spring.
