In an exciting and well played game, Canterbury led 23-22 at the half after
coming back from a 5 point deficit.
Krista O'Gara put in two clutch
baskets in the last minute of the first half to put the Saints up for
good.
The Lady Saints slowly pulled away in the second half.
Marly
Silverman put in 6 points while
MacKenzie Watt scored 4,
O'Gara 9 and
Clare Fitzpatrick 16.
Ariana Della Torre
contributed 5 clutch assists with some terrific passes.
At the 11:00
minute mark Canterbury had a 4 point lead, with 9:00 left they had a 33-41 lead
and with 6:25 left they had stretched the lead to 14 with a game score of
52-38. Holderness came back as they hit some 3-point shots but it was too
little too late as the Lady Saints won 60-54.
Clare Fitzpatrick
was named the MVP of the Championship game; she ended with 23 points. Clare
has been the heart and soul of the Canterbury Basketball program for four years
and it was fitting that she end her prep school career leading her team to the
New England Championship. Clare finishes as the all time leading scorer in both
boys and girls basketball.
Krista O'Gara finished with 16 points,
Ariana Delle Torre 7,
Marly Silverman 6,
Kelsy Nagle and
Mackenzie Watt each had 4 points.
