Riverton Parke scored 19 points in the first quarter as the Panthers ended a three game losing streak by beating county rival Turkey Run 33-7.

 

On the games opening kick off the ball bounced off a TR from lineman and was recovered by the Panthers Tyler Yando. Jeremy Helton went 47 yards for a touchdown on the first RP play from scrimmage. Zech Bennett's PAT kick was good and RP led 7-0 only 13 second into the game.

 

After a TR three and out RP took over at the Warrior 36 yard line. a 7 play drive was capped off when Josh Helton scored from 4 yards out and RP led 13-0.

 

Again the Panthers forced a TR punt after only 3 plays and the Panthers started their drive in TR territory. This time RP went to the air as Yando found Kyle Daugherty in the back of the end zone for a 31 yard TD pass that gave RP a 19-0 lead.

 

The Warriors moved the ball in the second quarter and RP was pinned inside its own 15 yard line when Jeremy Helton broke loose and scampered 86 yards for his second TD of the game. Bennett made the PAT and the score was 26-0 at halftime.

 

RP scored its final touchdown of the game on its opening drive of the second half. Fullback Coty Moretto had runs of 25 and 14 yards and finally a 1 yard TD score.

 

TR moved the ball throughout the second half and scored on a pass play from freshman QB Jeff Woods to Jon Sowers, but the play was called back due to a penalty. Later that drive would be stopped by RP at the two yard line. However, on the first RP play from scrimmage, the TR defensive line forced a fumble and Nathan Lutes recovered the ball in the end zone for a Warrior touchdown. Seth Marshall added the PAT kick for TR.

 

For Riverton Parke, Jeremy Helton had 197 rushing yards and Tyler Yando had 92 yards passing.

 

Riverton Parke (2-4, 1-4 WRC) plays at North Central next Friday. Turkey Run (0-6, 0-4) plays at Seeger next Friday.
