Rockville girls lacrosse Coach Tamika Jancewicz and her players are pumped and prepared for an excellent season after going 6-8 last year.

With the leadership of captains, Molly Cary, Leanne Taylor and Caitlin Rochon, the ladies are ready to make a comeback this season.

This year being only the beginning of Coach Jancewicz’s second season coaching for Rockville, she has already started making some changes.

“This year, I am a lot more open,” Jancewicz said. “There is more communication between the girls themselves and between the girls and I.”

Jancewicz said she was more selective in picking who was on varsity and said that many of her juniors came back much more improved. Senior Jennifer Civick said she is grateful for the smaller team so that more of the ladies will see playing time on the field.

“I just want to for Rockville to show up and play well,” Jancewicz said. “If we play a tough team, I want us to leave the field with all their respect even if we don’t win.”

Jancewicz found losing to Seneca Valley to be significant for the team because as Civick put it, “Losing to teams we know we can beat is an overall bad feeling and we’re not going to repeat that this year.”

Look for sophomore Anarita Sousa to be making an impact on the field. She picked up the sport quickly on junior varsity and her ability to adapt and speed will help the team tremendously.
