The Shore Gridiron Classic means we are about a month away from the start of football camps and another great season of football in the Shore Conference, but this year I am not just excited about Friday lights and Saturday afternoon battles of my favorite varsity squads.  I am excited for Sundays.  I am excited for the Ocean/Monmouth Challenger Sports League (OMCSL).
When I first met Joe Dipietro, head of the OMCSL, I knew that he was going to bring something special to the special needs sons and daughters or our community, but I never could have really fathomed what it would really mean.
The moment I saw these young men and women standing side-by-side with the players from Ocean County, I knew that supporting this league is going to be one of the most special things that I will ever be a part of.  These kids deserve this.  They deserved to be cheered for and celebrated.  They deserve to wave towels in the air and know the feeling of standing in the endzone before you head out onto the field to represent your community.  They deserve the sense of belonging and shared collective spirit that comes with wearing the respective colors of your school.
DigitalSports is fully commited to helping the Ocean/Monmouth Challenger Sports League to be the best that it can be and I urge everyone in our Shore Conference family to do their part in giving their support.  If you have the time...come out to the games.  If you have an extra couple of dollars...make a donation.  If you take photos or videos or write...drop me an e-mail (tjohnson@digitalsports).  If you need some inspiration...check out the video and photos below.  Thank you very much to the Shore Football Coaches Foundation for making the league the charity of their choice and thank you to everyone who came out to the game and gave to a great cause.  See you on the field.
