Opening Week TOP 10
1. FREEHOLD-
Always a top pick, Coach Bizzozzaro is preparing her team for what they
hope will be another championship season. The team welcomes newcomers
Georgia Johnson, Maria Caldarise and Sara Hartigan. Freehold's 2-0 win over Wall on Friday proved that the Boro does not plan on blinking.
3. JACKSON MEMORIAL- The Class A South team is filled with plenty of skilled return players. The Bradley girls (Briann and Mikie), Brandi Johnson and Kim Clemmer are expected to stand out.
4. RED BANK CATHOLIC- The Caseys look to start strong with the help of two new sophomores, Elle Mahon and Frankie Smurro. The defensive may be key to the team’s success this season.
5. BRICK MEMORIAL- The senior-led Mustangs prepare for what should be a memorable and exciting season. Led by long time coach Billy Caruso and key players Ricky Suhl and Caitlin Conway, the team is a must watch in Class A South.
6. TOMS RIVER NORTH- Coach Jerry Klimek welcomes 11 new girls to the team. Maria Gerew is one of several key returners.
7. MANALAPAN- Predicted to finish strong in Class A North, senior forward Amy Carhart should be a big weapon for the Braves this season.
8. ST. JOHN VIANNEY- With a strong defense, the Lancers are expected to start where they left off after a successful 2007. Freshman players Victoria Freeman and Erin Casey are a welcome addition.
9. RUMSON-FAIR HAVEN- Coming off of a 16-5 record last season, Celee Belmonte, Colleen Rigby and Abby Rumph are expected to be a killer trio and should lead their team to another great season.
10. Manasquan - Kendall Malinowski's erased any doubts about her return from an ACL tear by scoring a goal and assisting on another goal in a big victory over preseason #6 Holmdel this past weekend.
