After going down a goal in the first half, the Sabres rallied late in the second half to stun the Obezags at their home field. With only 1:30 left, the Sabres erased a 1-0 deficit when Blake Weishaar managed to fight off three defenders to slip a well timed pass to Turner Lacaze. Lacaze took the opportunity in stride and beat the Zags keeper with a perfectly struck volley the tucked neatly under the crossbar. Barely a minute later, Weishaar chased a loose ball down just inside the Zags' penalty box, and used a sliding side volley to beat the oncoming keeper near post, with just 12 seconds left.
The Sabres had outstanding efforts from their midfield contingent of Tommy Towers, Matt Rebb, Scott Endzel and Kemp Broujos, and excellent play from their defense of Bennett Daniels, Brian Delaney, Tracey Pellerin and Danny Levey. Goalkeeper Bradley Elliott had an astounding 20 saves.
The 1-0 Sabres return to action Monday at Baltimore Lutheran.
