CLOVERDALE - Despite missing their top two golfers, the Southmont High School girls golf team managed a fourth-place finish in Thursday's Cloverdale Invitational.

Jenna Whalen shot a 102 and finished in seventh-place individually and the Mounties shot a 457 as a team. Sagamore Athletic Conference rival Danville won the meet, finishing with 418.

South Putnam (426) finished second, followed by Cascade (448), Southmont, North Central (462), conference rival Tri-West (468), Cloverdale (478) and Sullivan (522).

Junior Aubri Rush had a 112. Freshman Ryann Nevins added a 121 in her first varsity meet and senior Caitlin Carr had a 122.

"I'm happy about Ryann and the way she played, knowing her score was going to count, she did very well," Mounties' coach Phyllis Miller said.
