If you can figure out where the Sagamore race is headed, please apply for a job at NASA. They need you. Halfway through the conference season, four teams are tied atop the standings at 3-1. They are North Montgomery, Lebanon, Southmont, and Western Boone. The state pollsters are giving the Chargers and Stars more love than anybody else. North Montgomery is eighth in this week’s 3A poll after knocking Western Boone from the ranks of the undefeated. The Stars still received votes and claimed the 17th spot this week.

All of that means exactly nothing when it comes to the league race.  The picture is this. Every team has one of the other contenders left on it schedule. The exception is Western Boone which still has to play both Southmont and Lebanon. Now, just in case you think you can swim your way through the schedules and pick a favorite, try this on for size. North Montgomery blasted Western Boone the week after Lebanon handed the Chargers their first loss. Southmont, who had fallen hard to North Montgomery earlier, dumped Lebanon last week. Enjoy watching your own head explode wading through all of this.
