Southport placed 6th at the Southport Invitational on Sept. 26 at Fall Creek and 16th Street Park.

It was the third year in a row that the course has been changed. This year, the meet was originally scheduled to be held at White River State Park, but those plans were course cancelled the week of the meet. The runners also had to make sure they kept their focus and weren’t thinking about the Homecoming dance later that night.

“I think Southport Invitational went really well considering all that was going on,” said senior Tim Mosier. “The team did really well despite missing our top two runners.”

Seniors John Cary and Lance Nelson were out because of injuries. So, according to Coach Mr. Dennis Bruce junior Stephen Gearhart and senior Corey Jones stepped up and got PRs.
